Non-sustaining capital spend was consistent with Q3-2018, with $8.3 million spent. The Q4-2018 costs were mainly related to pre-stripping at the Kao deposit, as well as the resettlement costs associated to its development.

Approximately $7 million of non-sustaining expenditure is planned for 2019, mainly for the Bouere pre-strip, road, and resettlement.

In several studies, perceptions about partners’ sexual pleasure and preferences were also important predictors of willingness to be circumcised [101]. A study of Chinese MSM found that 15% thought MC would improve the partner’s sexual pleasure, while 4% thought it would decrease it, and 68% were unsure [96]. In sub-Saharan Africa, 69% (range 47-79%) of women preferred circumcision for their partners because of its perceived aesthetic value [101], consistent with credible studies in developed countries [170, 171].

Best signing: Owen Williams – this Welshman should have been capped already, but it will be to Gloucester’s benefit that he is not yet. One of 10 new fly-halves across the league he joins the Cherry & Whites as someone who can dictate a game playing flat to the gainline. He may be employed at 12 as an auxiliary playmaker.

Best signing: Francis Saili – the former Munster All Black centre could form a wonderful partnership with 21-year-old starlet Joe Marchant. Saili has a powerful base, with huge legs, and pace to burn.

This tip is a collective of several fundamental techniques. First, set up a rig precisely. If it is supposed to be vertical to the surface, the mast dial should read 90 degrees, not 85. “Close enough” isn’t good enough. Second, when the drill bit is lowered to the rock surface, ease into the boring. When collaring in, grind out a pocket for the bit to seat in before powering up. Otherwise, the drill head is apt to skew off, producing lateral stress on the string, Hissem says. Last, if loose, unstable material is left over from a prior shooting, proceed carefully, because the unstable rock can easily fall into the hole atop the drill head and become wedged there. If possible, clear away unconsolidated surface material before beginning to drill, because if you can’t hold that hole open, you are in trouble.

In an imaginary, zero-carbon future, the revenue prospects for air-capture companies would probably be enormous. “If we get to $100 to $150 a ton,” Wurzbacher told me, “then the market is almost infinite.” It would be so large, he said, that even if his company went through an exponential expansion, he doubted it could serve all the potential clients. At such low prices, companies could potentially fold carbon offsets into their pricing — or be compelled to do so — leading to an explosion in the market. “Christoph and me, we are always saying, we think that if this develops in a direction we think it does, we are not founding a company — we’re really founding a new industry,” Wurzbacher said. He points to the work in Iceland — a collaborative effort, funded partly by the European Union — as the first step toward that industry. At the moment, a single Climeworks collector on a Reykjavik geothermal field takes in air and collects CO₂; after the gas is flushed from the machine’s filter, it is mixed with water, essentially forming hot seltzer. Then the liquid is injected into a basalt rock formation deep underground. Over the course of about two years, the CO₂ mineralizes, locking away the gas forever.
