In the back of Daddy Dave’s Edmond, Oklahoma shop sits the remains of the original Goliath Nova after experiencing an accident on the strip. Although the tattered contortion of twisted metal is useless as a road car (much less a racecar), Daddy Dave lets it hang around as a parts car for the occasional one-off piece that may be necessary for the new Nova – Goliath 2.0 – or possibly as a reminder of what could have been that fateful August 2015 day. The new Goliath features a carbon fiber-titanium floor and Optic Armor glass – and a 632cid, big-block race motor from TRE Racing Engines to cap the focal-point of its existence.

This is one of those pipe dreams everybody talks about and nobody ever does; one of those fantasies that we all hang around the toolbox and talk about how cool it would be only to leave it at nothing more than a flicker of the imagination.
The original Martian drill, an ultrasonic percussive design, was tested in 2016 in Antarctica, which is often used for as a proxy for research of more far-flung places off the planet. That machine was designed to work in the low gravity of Mars, which makes it tough to apply enough force to bore into hard rock. Ultrasonic vibrations kick the drill into motion, creating a back-and-forth, oscillatory movement that hammers the drill bit down into ground. As the drill was expected to be carried on an unmanned Mars rover, it was also designed to work nearly autonomously.
The plant has been designed to generate ten per cent of the district heating requirement for the City of Espoo. A successful pilot project may lead to deployment of corresponding technology elsewhere in Finland.
But within seconds of the water being pumped, Marty yells, “What the hell! Kill it, kill it, kill the pump!” The hose has twisted and if it explodes the tremendous pressure could cause irreparable damage.
