Another issue is a fear of complications – whether real or imagined – when circumcision is performed later. Such fears can be a significant barrier to uptake of adult MC. In a US study, 59% of men expressed worries about risks of bleeding and infections [95]. A study in China found that 12.5% of men were concerned about infection [96].
